Wayne Allison, 90, a native and lifelong resident of Brevard, NC, went to his heavenly home on May 22, 2026.

Wayne Eugene Allison was born on April 23, 1936, to the late Ernest and Sallie Allison of Brevard. He was preceded in death by his dear brother, John Allison, and his beloved sister, Leona Allison Zachary. They had an unwavering bond at a very young age after the passing of their mother. Heaven rejoices in their reunion.

Wayne is survived by his sweetheart of almost 62 years, Jewel Stamey Allison. They were married on June 27, 1964, and have enjoyed a long life together full of love and devotion. It should be noted that Jewel has tirelessly cared for Wayne in his declining years. She has gone above and beyond in every capacity and is a shining example of a Biblical wife. He is also survived by his only son, whom he dearly loved, Edward Allison, of Brevard, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wayne was a house painter by trade, and a very good one. He always believed in doing the right thing in life. Wayne was a man of few words. His was a quiet and calm way of life. It could even be said that he lived in a peaceful world of his own making that few are ever fortunate enough to find. He was perfectly happy fishing a serene river, lost in thought. The few stories he did tell almost always involved his childhood hunting trips, deep in the woods.

Wayne was a true mountain man. He was a living link to the old ways of Southern Appalachia, which is all too fast disappearing. Everything about him was reminiscent of another place and time. He was the embodiment of a kind Southern gentleman. As the world sped by, he was content to quite literally stop and smell the roses and the daffodils. He found great joy in feeding the woodland critters and sincerely appreciated the songbirds. Wayne walked with God in a way that eludes most of us. He knew that God’s presence was evident in the songs of those little birds and the sweet scent of the flowers of the field. He knew that the Lord’s grace lived in the heart of his wife and in the warm embrace of his family, and we are all richer for having known and loved such a man.

Graveside services will be conducted at Davidson River Cemetery on May 27th at 11:00 a.m.
